I have a special memory of Gail and I just talking and visiting for
over an hour at the shows up in Washington. I was so surprised to see
her there as she came over to see me as I was exercising a dog away
from the ring. Just the two of us standing out on the
grass as we just watched the dogs and talked. She was having a
really good day....and it really made my day, just visiting and
talking dogs, and life, and happily laughing at some old memories that
we had a good time sharing.
Gail was remarkably intelligent, and had a 'dry' sense of humor, as
do I, and we always had a good laugh. I never saw her again after
that, and I am so grateful for that final great visit. It was a
gift..........

I also remembered the name of each handler and each judge. I guess
that is a good sign. But, it did remind me of how fleeting life is,
and how thankful I was last Thursday to have good friends and be able
to enjoy another holiday with them.
I took part of today off, and am looking forward to my trial
tomorrow.
I remember when Ron Lucas made that video. Ron is gone now, aso is
Candy, but I represented their son and daughter, so the connection
remains. Ron sent the video to me when he made it, and that is why so
much of it is the West Coast, (all of it).
And, I still wear the jacket Gail Sprock gave me, but only to the
National. It is the gray leather one with the patches. She had one
in green, and I told her how much I liked it. The following week, I
got the gray version in the mail. She will always be in my mind, one
of my favorite people, who now sadly, so many of the shepherd people
never had the chance to meet.
Time waits for no man.
