You are quite right Kathy....Thunder had a bad case of diarrhea....had eaten
something that cause it and don't recall (was 20 years ago). It telescoped
on him but I did have a great surgeon. he lost about 10" of his gut and
luckily the tissue has not gone necrotic.
Had to feed him literally baby food for quite awhile until we were sure
everything was okay. I had to SubQ fluids into him just a bit at a time for
over a week. He was 10 weeks old. Lived until almost 12....

No, not genetic. It can happen for a variety of reasons, parasites overload,
diarrhea (dog straining), partial blockage.
I want you to picture you taking a sock off and the sock rolls over on itself,
same thing can happen with a dog's intestine.
Surgery may be successful...or not, really depends on how much intestine is
compromised and the skill of the surgeon...and luck.
Wishing the best for this five month old but this is a reason why I never relax
if a dog has diarrhea and I am a bit nuts about worming protocol.

Anybody have a puppy develop this? Is it genetic? A five month old puppy
just developed this and I have never heard of this before.
