Personally I am glad we are going to the Amateur CLASS!
That was always the "original" proposal ...to just insert
ONE Amateur CLASS in the Futurity and the Maturity for each sex.
Then....
it just ballooned and got so complicated as the Futurity Committee
overhauled the idea, and added to it until it became complicated,
and time consuming for our Futurities.
Again, One class fulfills the original idea that we were getting from
so many in our Suggestion Questionnaire's that were asking for
Futurities to offer something for those that did not want to have
to compete with Professional handlers so they would have a "chance"
to go back into Winners to compete with their dog. It is simple
and available for those who want that specifically.
KUDOS TO THE BOARD AND CURRENT FUTURITY COMMITTEE!!
I believe this will also increase those wanting to watch this class
at the National without having so much time involved in a whole
separate venue or system.

Subject: [ SHOWGSD-L ] Amateur Futurities 2014
Importance: High

Due to an AKC rule modification some of the Amateur judges have had to
withdraw from their assignments.
The regions impacted are:

Mid-West, South West, South Pacific & Mid Pacific

Theresa Royer will now be judging the Amateur event in the Mid Pacific.

The executive Committee gave the Futurity Committee permission to allow
clubs without judges to use the new Amateur class system. However, since
the GSDCA board voted to start the new Amateur classes in 2015, the
Executive Committee last night reversed their decision and we are unable to
offer the Amateur Class option this year.

Each region will hold both a Regular Futurity and an Amateur Futurity as
originally planned.

The host clubs in each impacted region will be looking for new judges for
the Amateur event. Anyone that meets the criteria (email Kathy or myself
for information) and would be interested in judging, is encouraged to
contact the Regional chairmen to volunteer. As the new judges are
determined, we will send updates and post the names on the 2014 Futurity
show page of the GSDCA.org site.

We thank you all for your support of the GSDCA Futurity system and hope
everyone that participates will have a great time at the Futurity/Maturity
events this year.
