If that were true, the prices in Georgia wouldn't be that much higher than they are here. The South has always had lower gas prices...they increase as one drives north. Maryland, for example, is almost always higher than Virginia...and cities and "highway stations" have higher prices most of the time. This overnight increase, or as someone said, three increases in one day, are nothing more than price gouging. Futures may have something to do with it...but that is not the whole story. . With all the car manufacturers crying because they can't sell cars, the big gas hogs are going to be awfully cheap soon...not too many people will be able to afford driving them. Imagine filling up the dual tanks on some of the big vans...it'll be equal to some mortgage payments! BTW - I know what futures are. Probably a lot of people on the list know what they are.
