OK, so this is really funny...or I thought it was funny.
(And Barb Hively can vouch...I was VERY well behaved).
So there was a show a bit down the road, rare breeds, Halloween time
frame. Barb invited me and I went. First day took Cassie to walk around,
bred
by Les & Irene. Puppy, close to 4 months give or take, repeat of that
awfully nice litter they bred a year + ago. Met some very nice people. I
can't tell a Shiloh from a King but the fault is mine. It was good
socialization for the puppy. Several times I was asked what she was and I
replied a
GSD.
"A purebred?" "Yes." "Are you sure?" "Yes." "Really? She's kind of
small". And for the 100th time that day I was glad I had thrown on a plain
jacket and not my Delaware Valley jacket lol.
Next day brought Pippa who would have been about thirteen months old.
Now, I have to say at this point I think she is one of the better bitches I've
bred. First we went to a flea market, and outside of that was an Irish
Setter specialty. Big fun, lovely people there too and we got ourselves
invited to a hunting demo involving very dead birds, guns and retrieving.
Pippa wants to be a bird dog. She wanted to retrieve so badly, and we were
welcome to try but I had visions of her leaving with a very dead bird instead
of retrieving <G>.
Then we stopped at the rare breed show. Again, SUPER socialization, very
nice people, lots more questions since she was about 1/2 the size of the
Shilohs and Kings. "How old is she" "A little over a year". "Where did you
get her?" "I bred her." "Huh. She's a purebred?"

I don't see how this float or breeder is doing anything to promote
the German Shepherd Dog and why some are happy about it? I never
saw the float and have no opinion on if the dog was beautiful or
not....( a beautiful dog is always a beautiful dog ) To me...It
is just another testimony to how far behind WE are in promoting the
German Shepherd Dog Breed ourselves!
After checking out the web site as suggested....It appears to me to
be self promotion of a breeder who LIKE SO MANY.. has gone off on
promoting a specific fault in the Breed....even to the point of
developing yet another "Breed Standard." (surprise!) <G>
She refers to them as a "King Shepherd BREED"...and even has her own
American King Shepherd Club.
Until we respect our own Standard and work to tighten up on our own
German Shepherd Dog Breed Standard instead of "loosening it" to make
even small faults more acceptable...and begin to promote the Breed
as it is supposed to be..this type of promo will always continue to
get more attention from the general public.

That was said because the owner of the dog calls him a King Shepherd.
Shame
but when the owner says that it's a King and she's giving thousands of
dollars to the organization (and her husband pays $200,000 for the float),
then the reporters have to say that it's a King also.
This is where we as GSD owners should come in to educate the public about
the facts.

I couldn't believe it when someone on FaceBook commented that Johnny Cash
