You are both correct. I also said.... ( a beautiful dog is always a beautiful dog ) Seems my point is misunderstood though...as I was NOT negative about the float...I did not even see the float. I was responding because someone also posted that the reporters or commentators were told to refer to the dog as a "King" Shepherd". After going to the site of "king Shepherds" I stand by my statement that it is too bad that people will see the "King" Shepherd BREED ( as it is requested that it be referred as ) ...as a representative of our Breed instead of "The German Shepherd Dog." GSD?? thank you, helen. it was a beautiful dog on a beautiful float - i doubt that anyone else is worried about what the dog was "called." it looked like a GSD - that is all that the attendees will remember. thank you, diane ====================================== On Behalf Of Helen Franklin Subject: Re: GSD Float? GSD?? I think that negative comments are amusing. As a previous "parade goer" I can tell you that the floats pass by in a matter of less than a minute or so, and all you are left with is an *impression* of what you just saw! Just as you take in the delights of one float, another one comes along, or a band or something else to absorb your mind. If you happen to question the parade attendees' they will tell you ONLY about the German Shepherd on the police float and the dogs walking around it. They will have absolutely no knowledge of who bred what or why and will care even less! The dog did look like a German Shepherd, and there were some great pictures on Facebook. It was a good advertisement for the breed because all people will remember is police and the proud GSD representing them. ********************************************* Carolyn writes: .....After checking out the web site as suggested....It appears to me to be self promotion of a breeder who LIKE SO MANY.. has gone off on promoting a specific fault in the Breed....even to the point of developing yet another "Breed Standard." (surprise!) <G> She refers to them as a "King Shepherd BREED"...and even has her own American King Shepherd Club. Until we respect our own Standard and work to tighten up on our own German Shepherd Dog Breed Standard instead of "loosening it" to make even small faults more acceptable...and begin to promote the Breed as it is supposed to be..this type of promo will always continue to get more attention from the general public.
