Dogs and horses do need access to water as it is there when needed.

My German Shepherd Dogs have always had water available them 24/7.
It has worked for my GSD to always have food available at all times to nibble
on but he is fed his canned with his dry once a day in the evening. However,
he has the best dog food available with no connection to Diamond Food.
I know all dogs are different but they will always need access to water. Unlike
a human a dog is not able to get a drink of water if we do not offer it.
