Poor dear. She is looking for a mate. She sees herself in the window. Put some 
cardboard on the window and perhaps she will start. The Cardinal is Ohio state 
bird and I have many of them on my property. If you care to see, here are some

BTW, I have had solid black squirrels with red tails. Unfortunately, I think 
mine did not survive the winter - we have a lot of hawks around here.
