I was told a long time ago Whites were not recognized because of their lack of
camouflage while guarding the flocks at night. That wouldn't have anything to
do with their abuilty to herd in a competition. I am not sure yet how I feel
about Whites being granted a seperate breed status. If they put them in the
Herding group, how long would it be before people want to join the two
together. No rule in AKC is sacred and unchangeable.

I am opposed to white gsds having separate breed status. That being said, I
ave to agree that white dogs can be good herders. I have seen white gsds do
uite well in competition. I have also seen a number of Sammies that are good

Herding dogs are not white. The only breed in the herding
group that allows a white dog is the pulik. The stock does
not respect a white dog as dominant, to be obeyed.
1. The Puli is NOT the *only* AKC Herding Group breed to
ave white coat color as allowable.
2. The idea that sheep or other stock do not respect a
hite working dog has been largely proven to be a myth.
