[ SHOWGSD-L ] AKC Judges Fees

Hi All;
Like Kathy said, about Performance Judges is the same with other Judges. I am
the Show Coordinator for my AB Club and book the
Judges. I try to hire Judges that can do two groups so I can use them both days
to save on travel expenses. Some Judges fees are
just too high and I try to limit my fees to $350.00 per day, the Perfomance
Judges who judge less dogs have high fees also.
We run the shows like a business or we would not be able to continue to have
shows. We had one Show Chair who almost ruined
us in one year my spending $25K on Judges and their expenses!!! We also allow
only $35.00 per day for dinner as we supple breakfast and lunch and we pay no
incedental expenses, such as dry cleaning, dog sitters etc.
As Kathy said, many Judges make a very nice income from Judging and this is
brought up by many Delegate Judges since they
can not charge a fee, but only expenses.
Also to answer Diane, a BIS Judge needs only to have one Group to judge BIS.
