AIN'T THAT A SHAME

AIN'T THAT A SHAME.....when gas prices are so high that a three day show
week-end turns into one for some people?
AIN'T THAT A SHAME.....when expenses to show a dog for that same three
day show can be higher than a person's mortgage?
AIN'T THAT A SHAME.....that the National runs for 9 days and 10 if you
count the board meeting?
AIN'T THAT A SHAME.....that most people will never get to see the whole
National and those that do, by the the end of the week and a half won't
even care about it anymore and home is looking better all the time?
AIN'T THAT A SHAME.....that the crowd applauds for the "EverReady" high
stepping charged up dog because everyone else does?
AIN'T THAT A SHAME.....that some dogs will never see the inside of a
Specialty ring and they'll still make their championship? - the bigger
shame that Specialty clubs are folding and more and more people are
choosing to show at all breeds where they're pulling majors under all
breed judges and our specialty judges struggle for the entries?
AIN'T THAT A SHAME.....that "natural" breedings is not always the "norm"
anymore? - that it may cost you thousands before you even pay the stud
service?
AIN'T THAT A SHAME.....that we have a standard for the breed that has
stood for fifty years and now we find ourselves doing the Illustrated
Standard again after all this time, and no one seems to agree just what
they want that standard to say and what those pictures should look
like? I wonder if they had this discussion fifty years ago.
AIN'T THAT A SHAME.....that a new board is being elected and that 3/4 of
the membership doesn't know who they are voting for and why they're
voting for that person?
AIN'T THAT A SHAME.....that many potentially excellent stud dogs get
lost in the shuffle because not enough people know about them or they're
not owned by the "well known" breeder?
AIN'T THAT A SHAME.....that many a novice person walked away from the
Specialty clubs because they never felt welcomed?
AIN'T THAT A SHAME.....that the "sport" of the breed is sometimes
sacrificed for the "high" of the win?
AIN'T THAT A SHAME.....that I'm a fool to care.....
