Good for you Bill. Having known Bart for many years personally, but never
shown under him, I would expect nothing else.
Just hope that I can have a well known handler say the same for me as a
judge.

I had the great pleasure of showing a second time under Mr. Bart Bartley.
The dogs i handled did NOT win one thing, so this is the opinion of a 3rd
and 4th place handler.
Judges are often criticized and sometimes it is an unenviable position. It
is time we recognize a professional judging job.
As a handler i believe i have an unique appreciation for consistency in
judging procedure and judging ...consistency. I find Mr. Bartley unique in
his constitution and consistency with regard to his procedure, and his
fairness and patience and clear communication with each dog/exhibitor. He
allows his procedure to separate the dogs and when it is close he exercises
his knowledge and judgement to make the hard call between dogs that are
close. He can explain his choices in detail and you can have confidence in
his explanation.
I believe there are judges who are judges because they qualify under the AKC
guidelines and professional judges who have studied thier craft, thought
about their procedure and have the integrity and knowledge to CONSISTENTLY
do an excellent job. Mr. Bartley is a professional judge.
