It was a good one. Not as nice as the July trip, but still darn good. Tom Edwards had performed his usual magic and he had rented a house so for a mere $75 Each (that's the total cost each for two days) we had a really nice house, baths, kitchen and central location. Historically we've paid upwards of $110 a night for a motel room. Saturday we got blown out - no joy. We spent the day in various places either visiting the graveyard of the Atlantic museum (where the Enigma cypher machine from U-85 is displayed), flying kites, riding ferry's, sunning, looking for wrecks we could dive from the shore, etc. It was nice weather and a good bunch of folks.http://www.divehatteras.com Sunday we headed out with Capn Dave and his crew to visit the Proteus and the Dixie Arrow. The Proteus had a light surface current, and 80 feet of viz in water around 80 degrees in temperature. Lots of sea life with the bait fish population starting to grow, sharks teeth in the sand, etc. Tom Edwards, and Tim (I've been seasick before) Manville worked their wreck reel techniques to finish up Tim (Maybe I shouldn't have eaten the sausage sandwich) Manville's Wreck Diving training. http://www.divehatteras.com/wrecksites.htm The Dixie Arrow had no current, 80 feet of viz, 80 degree water, toad fish, grouper, tons of bait fish, several sand tigers, two that were 7-8 feet in length, spade fish (one with its own sucker fish), rays, etc. Tim (I can't believe I feel this bad) Manville was going to sit out the second dive, but he gladly changed his mind and had a wonderful dive. We surfaced on the second dive to enjoy watermelon and pineapple. Most of us napped on the nice ride back into the dock. Thanks to Tom Edwards for organizing, thanks to the young Craig Goheen for opening up the house, Thanks to Kelly Goheen for closing the house (and picking up after all the men). Thanks to Tim (I'm going to try the patch) Manville, and John DeDeian for rounding out the bunch with good stories, good attitudes, a more than capable diving skills. -- The Not Young Craig Goheen, not to be confused with The young Craig Goheen. www.SeaVentures-Scuba.com Please send all replys to seaventures@xxxxxxxxxxxxx If you need to contact the Administrator of the list then email Craig at cgoheen(at)gmail.com Sea Ventures List Serve Message
