Yes, it's .85 cents per transaction. So $26 for members that use the
paypal option to join.
There may be an additional fee if you use the smartphone card reader to
take payments, say at a general meeting. I'm not sure. Another nonprofit
I am with uses them for their fundraising.

I think for non-profits it's less than $3. The page I read is 2.2% +
30 cents which, for a $25 membership is 85 cents.
I agree that the main purpose / benefit would be for membership dues.
Less hassle with checks/cash, trips to the bank etc. Of course,
someone does have to deal with the paypal stuff, tracking things
online, etc.
I agree that's also totally reasonable to pass the cost on to the
member.

Oh the cost is $3 per transaction I must have read the cost wrong.
But yes I agree with Michael
if they want to use this service just pass it on to the member
because as I said we have had the member dues the
same for 21 years.
We increased the dues for people that wanted snail mail.
It makes sense

Not that I can think of. Could we also use this for dues payments?
San Diego Astronomy Association does this and passes the charge to
the member. The members and new members are happy to pay the $3 so
they can use a credit card.
