I'm OK with the April MM. We've had several MMs in April, but several were
clouded out or nearly so. Last one was 4/2/2011. Latest we've had was
4/13/02 I think.

I'll go with a Mar 18 meeting.

Anyway, great, will we get Jeff Hester again? I heard he was on the
Astronomy staff now as a columnist.

Yes, the only sensible dates for the Marathon are March 12 (waxing
crescent) or April 2 (waning crescent). M74 was just barely visible on
April 1, so maybe on April 2 as well. I doubt that we can say the same
about the visibility of M30 on March 12.

Oh, and 2016 is going to be a year in which conflicts with EVAC's third
Friday meetings will occur, and some of them inevitably cannot be scheduled
around.

Subject: [sac-forum] 2016 Meeting Dates

Hi Board,

I realize it's a bit early for this subject, but I am receiving replies
from potential speakers who would like to speak early next year, and need
dates. I have the following proposal for the first three months.

No-brainers: January 22 and February 19. Both of these dates are within a
couple days of Full Moon, and do not conflict with holidays.

Less certain: March 18 or 25. The 18th has an 11-day waxing gibbous moon
in the evening sky. The 25th is near Full Moon, but it's Easter weekend.
I'd like to select the 18th, if the Board agrees. If there's no
disagreement in the next couple days, I am going to schedule a good speaker
for that date.

Thanks.

Tom
