Subject: [rollei_list] Tessars
Question for the group: I have2 Automats with 3.5
Tessars. One has the
expected Opton-Tessar, coated, but the other, a bit older,
Very
different, has been re-lensed with a Carl Zeiss Tessar, a
much newer
lens. My question: the CZ tesar beats the daylights out
of the Opton.
what was the difference in formula between the coated Jena
3.5, coated
Opton 3.5, and the later CZ 3.5? Is this a better lens,
or just an
individual in better condition?

Also, check the poor lens to see if anything is loose.
Its possible for the retaining ring to be loose. The center
lens is probably spun-in so it can't get loose and move
around, the same for the back lens although the cell could
be loose.
