Obviously, we have a LOT of Super Ikonta folks=20 here. I would urge all of you to subscribe to=20 the Zeiss Ikon Collectors' Group on=20 Yahoo! Groups. We discuss a lot of these points=20 there frequently. In any event, I would like ALL=20 of the serial numbers from these cameras: body=20 type and number, lens type and number, and=20 shutter number. These are being collected for=20 Charlie Barringer on his Zeiss Lens List and for=20 Simon Worsley for his records of Zeiss Ikon folders. There has never been a solid reason given why the=20 Super Ikonta B took 11 exposures and the BX=20 12. There have been dozens of suggestions but=20 none are completely satisfactory. The design=20 history for these cameras was stored at the old=20 ICA factory which was destroyed in the Dresden=20 Fire-Bombing and no one ever thought to ask=20 Hubert Nerwin or Heinz K=FCppenbender during their lifetimes. Finally, Zeiss Ikon is not "Zeiss". Zeiss is a=20 lens company, Zeiss Ikon a camera and=20 slide-projector works. Both were owned by the=20 same Foundation, but they were independent=20 concerns. A friend once visited the Carl Zeiss=20 Archives at Oberkochen, and was asked what he was=20 searching. He informed the querent that he was=20 seeking information on Zeiss Ikon. The archivist=20 nodded slowly and said, "ah, yes, one of our former customers".
