John,I agree with all of that. The two main attractions for me of the Magic II are the programmed auto exposure and the Bay II fittings. My main Rollei is a 3.5F and I have a pretty complete set of lens accessories, and they can all by used on the Magic, including the Mutars.
I have one hesitation, though. The Xenar lens, which is such a great lens on the Rolleicords, here on the Magic is a front-element focusing lens, and I am interested to see if it is as good as the unit-focusing Xenar on the Cords.
I like the sleek design, with nothing sticking out on the side -- no film spool knobs and no big focusing knob. Very elegant.

Bob, that seems to be the best way forward. They're great cameras. The 'Magic 1 is auto only, so gives you no control, although I found mine to be pretty 'sensible' with exposure. The 'Magic II gives the photographer 'power over machine' and I find itis a great 'grab and go' camera; you do not need any other kit for a leisurely day out. If you take a 'serious' TLR, you end up with all sorts of other bits and pieces which require a kit bag......... With a 'Magic II you can be 'happy go lucky' but then you do have the capability of taking a 'serious' photograph using an excellent camera with a great lens. John John, Alas, that's what I feared. I shall pack it up and send it back to Paul Ebel.
