Or the price of an entry level basic (Rollieord) or serious (Rolleiflex) Nikon digi.

Thanks,

Elias

I did two prices upgrades using a deflation inflation
calculator that I found from a NASA site, from memory
the index considers the prices variation for domestic
apparatus in the USA from 1913 till an estimated index
for 2009, and then:
Rolleicord with eveready case $149.50(1954)=$895
(2006)

Rolleiflex 2.8C with everready case $309.50
(1954)=$1845 (2006).-

That's great! So what would these prices look like
today?

I have uploaded to the web the 1954 Burleigh
Brooks
Inc. (official F&H distributor for USA). As
Richard
commented, the prices difference between
Rolleicord
and Rolleiflex models were significant and this
was
the reason the Rolleiflex Standard Neu was
manufactured on 1939 and the Rolleiflex T from
1958,
the purpose was to fill the price jump between
Rolleicord and Rolleiflex with an intermediate
model:

Yes Richard, however German and American
economies
were and are different. Prochnow gives the prices
for
Germany on 1950 for the III and on 1953 for the
Rolleicord IV in German Marks; I only have the
official Burleigh Brooks Inc. retail prices for
USA
in
dollars on 1954 for the Rolleicord IV and my
reasoning
is simple, if Jim had a Rolleicord III he bought
on
1952 costing $149.50 and a Rolleicord IV Xenar
lens
costed $149.50 on 1954, Jim's Rolleicord III
could
have a Xenar lens.
According a new Jim's message he is not sure if
the
camera was a Rolleicord III or IV because he
doesn't
remember the exact year he bought the camera, and
then
it's difficult to know the model without the
camera
serial number really.-

Subject: [rollei_list] Re: Limit of Rolleicord
Triotar,
prices

Richard K. wrote a good point, the camera
price.
I
have an original 1954 list price from Burleigh
Brooks
Inc.,10 West 46th Street New York 36, N.Y, that
I
bought from Craig cameras because it contains
the
2.8C
prices, if your camera costed 149.50$, this is
the
exact price for the 1954 Rolleicord IV with
Xenar
lens
and ever ready case, and then it's almost sure
your
camera was a Rolleicord III with Xenar lens and
ever
ready case, a Rolleicord III with Triotar lens
was
cheaper clearly. In other words, if your 1952
Rolleicord III camera had identical price
regarding
the newer Rolleicord IV with Xenar lenses, your
Rolleicord III had Xenar lenses too.-

All the best
Carlos

Remember that at the time price fixing of
products was
legal and common. Discounts were often given by
dealers but
could not be advertised.
Prochnow gives prices in DM for the time the
cameras were
released. While converting these prices to U.S.
ones
can not
be done directly the _ratio_ is interesting.

Model III Triotar DM 248
Model III Xenar DM 268
MOdel IV Xenar DM 338

For comparison, the prices he gives for the
Rolleiflex 3.5A
(Automat MX) in the same period are:

Jena Tessar or Opton Tessar DM 510
Xenar DM 490
