It will run on AC without a battery if you've got the "Mains unit N
23" (an optional extra), but won't run simply off the AC cord used for
charging the battery.
I just tested mine in the same fashion and had the same result as you.
Thanks. I guess that I will need to purchase a battery then. I guess
that the SLA is the best choice since the NiCads don't have the same
capacity and the wet cells don't seem to exist anymore.
