Ken, Robert, Thor -- thanks, guys, for the kind words.
We moved from Manhattan to Boca Raton FL late last
year -- my firm moved me down here. At first we
bridled but have since come to appreciate life in the
tropics. The best part of the move has been the house
we found, with a big yard full of trees, and a darkroom
to die for. (The previous owner was an architect and
LF film photographer, and put both talents to work to
create a dream darkroom.)
I largely laid aside my Rolleiflexes in the relocation,
but am slowly starting to shoot again. We got the
darkroom stocked and operating, and are printing
again, now in a space with running water (imagine
that!) and ventilation. Print exchange time?
We still have our NYC darkroom, so we had to hunt for
new equipment down here. I found an amazing enlarger,
an Ilfospeed 500 head on a D-series Omega chassis.
After a life of printing with an Aristo head and filters,
the Ilfospeed is a godsend, with electronic controls
for time and contrast. Has anyone else on the list
printed with the Ilford head?
Jerry: Don't worry, they're just pictures, the world
is full of them and I should be shot for adding to the
glut. The world can see Carlos's pictures because they
are safe. Mine are subversive, so Flickr requires that
you sign in to see them. It's Flickr's way of protecting
the world from naughty photographs.
