[rollei_list] Re: Maxwell screen for my 2.8E? Should I do it despite the $$$?

My 3.5F has a Maxwell screen, while the MX-EVS wears a Rolleigrid, a fresnel lens dropped atop the ground glass. Both have their good points. On the 3,5F, Maxwell provides a brighter view than the not at all bad Rolleiclear screen it came with. The main reason I swapped out the original was its split image prism, which I have always found distracting. Extra image brilliance was a plus, but I found it made the image no easier to focus than the Rolleiclear. Perhaps the version with central focusing aids might help.
Under really dim light, the image brightness is a revelation.

Although the Maxwell view is considerably brighter than ground glass with fresnel, I find the MX-EVS easier to focus under fair to good lighting conditions. The gg image seems snap into focus more positively than either the Rolleiclear or Maxwell, although I'm not sure why.

I find both Maxwell and gg/fr screens very satisfying in use, providing pleasant but distinctly different visual experiences. Under (un)available light conditions, they are invaluable.

I put Maxwell screens in both of my Rollei SL66s and they are fantastic! HUGE difference. Worth every penny!

Paul Ebel is working on my 2.8E and I thought perhaps I'd have him
install a Maxwell screen while he has it. I hear they are phenominal,
with something like 6x the brightness of the standard Rollei screen.

The bad news, of course, is that they cost $150USD. So, should I do
it? Are they worth it?
