During a recent interview, Salgado explained that it was forced to adopt
digital to finish his "Genesis" project because became difficult too much to
travel carrying a lot of film material along the Earth due to the airports
scanners, the scanning was affecting the film quality, he is using digital
partially and always B&W, he says that color is distracting, it is there to be
consumed without effort, B&W is an abstraction requiring to think about the
image; anyway 90% of "Genesis" is in film, this is his last big photographic
project, he shows Nature in B&W.
