Not meaning to contest your (good, fortunately) experience... but I have a
list of links to experiences similar to mine. Whether Fotokemika changed
(spool|spindle) tolerances at some point, I do not know; but a packet of
their 127 film I bought a few years ago definitely exhibits the problem.
They are still tucked away in boxes after a move last year, so I cannot
quickly take a measurement, but I remember having to file off half a
millimeter from the flanges.

In 2009, I asked the late Jürgen Kuschnick whether anything could be done
constructively about the "Grey Baby" film roll bay size, and he said no. He
wasn't very fond of working on it, either.
