If your first bid is set at the absolute maximum that you are willing to 
pay, sniping shouldn't bother you at all.

Sadly the only Shows anywhere near me here in Maine are the PHSNE.org 
shows held in Massachusetts twice a year. Usually April and October. I 
go when I don't have a wedding booked and I am looking for something in 
particular, but it is a long 5 hour round trip just to browse.
