non ho capito: hai un login manager e il mouse li funziona oppure anche
se fai partire _solo_ X non funziona?

il log che dice? /proc/bus/input/devices che dice ?

se hai un 2.6 e' _sempre_ meglio mettere /dev/input/mice
(a meno di configurazioni particolari)
