The really cool thing about Window Eyes scripting is it isn't fixed to =
any
one programming or scripting language. Its all via the Windows com
automation so whatever scripting language someone wants to write a =
script in
is fine as long as its one that Windows supports. =20
Gw Micro has created a place to share and talk about scripts
www.gwmicro.com/sc Script Central.

There are many people working on scripting and its only getting better.
One person I've known of since I first started using vocal eyes has =
written
many scripts. The one I love the best so far is one that goes out to
weather underground, gets the temp humidity and pressure and returns the
info in a spoken dialog. You don't have to open IE for it, its all done =
in
the background. One press of the hotkey reguardless of where I am on =
the
computer gives me current weather conditions.

The scripts can be left open for others to further develop and modify or
they can be encripted, allowing someone who has developed some rather =
good
script and wants to sell it without fear of someone being able to =
figure
out how it was done and just copy the data.

I just listened to this demo, and it is very cool. I'm sure that soon=20
there will be lots of tutorials around demonstrating how to create =
simple=20
scripts for Windoweyes. It's wonderful that for much lless than $200 =
you=20
can by an omni directional scanner and instantly know what kkind of =
serial=20
you are holding, what that CD is in your hand, or what that can of soup =
or=20
vegetables you bought is. Or carry your laptop or cell phone with you =
and=20
scan stuff at the stores. These new programs bring this technology into =
the

realm of affordability for all of us. Steve, let us know how it turns =
out.=20
I predict that in the next five years even agencies will start moving =
toward

purchasing applications that will run on cell phones to do all these =
things.

It's so much more stable and practical and then you can take your =
technology

where you need it. The old line companies will have to adjust to this =
trend

or lose out. As Steve and others have stated on this list before, Why =
would

anyone want to carry around programs running on large clunky notetakers =
or=20
laptops when their counterparts running on cell phones work so much =
better=20
and are more stable and easier to use? This day is here now. Many of =
us=20
just haven't made the transition yet. So I hoist my virtual glass to =
true=20
convergence in it's purest form. Anyone want to join me?

Hi,
Here's something I want to pass along. I just purchased a USB bar code=20
scanner and I cannot wait to get it and use it at home. This is just so =

cool.

With the release of Window-Eyes 7.0, we've been able to make our life a =
bit=20
easier
by using bar codes. In this short demonstration, listen as J.J. uses a =
bar=20
code scanner
and a Window-eyes script to identify packages and read product =
directions.
