I just listened to this demo, and it is very cool. I'm sure that soon
there will be lots of tutorials around demonstrating how to create simple
scripts for Windoweyes. It's wonderful that for much lless than $200 you
can by an omni directional scanner and instantly know what kkind of serial
you are holding, what that CD is in your hand, or what that can of soup or
vegetables you bought is. Or carry your laptop or cell phone with you and
scan stuff at the stores. These new programs bring this technology into the
realm of affordability for all of us. Steve, let us know how it turns out.
I predict that in the next five years even agencies will start moving toward
purchasing applications that will run on cell phones to do all these things.
It's so much more stable and practical and then you can take your technology
where you need it. The old line companies will have to adjust to this trend
or lose out. As Steve and others have stated on this list before, Why would
anyone want to carry around programs running on large clunky notetakers or
laptops when their counterparts running on cell phones work so much better
and are more stable and easier to use? This day is here now. Many of us
just haven't made the transition yet. So I hoist my virtual glass to true
convergence in it's purest form. Anyone want to join me?

Here's something I want to pass along. I just purchased a USB bar code
scanner and I cannot wait to get it and use it at home. This is just so
cool.
With the release of Window-Eyes 7.0, we've been able to make our life a bit
easier
by using bar codes. In this short demonstration, listen as J.J. uses a bar
code scanner
and a Window-eyes script to identify packages and read product directions.
