Well Kim, watching from across the other side of the pond, I'm facinated by this
conversation. Let's just say I've grown old enough to not make generalisations
about what
people know or don't know and what they should, or shouldn't be asking, so I'll
try and
answer your question, though these days I don't use Internet Explorer much
except for
Windows updates.

When in IE7 which I'm using, go to tools, and down to the last item, internet
options. and
you should be placed straight in the general tab or form and the address of the
page you are
on is highlighted. You can tab to the button which says use current' ', apply
the setting
with alt-a and OK that. along from the 'use current button is 'use blank'
where you can
clear the form and enter an other address for the home page, applying and
Okaying as before.

In IE7 you can enter several addresses to be loaded as multiple home pages, and
IE7 will
load several 'home pages' in separate tabs. (If you are still using IE6 the
procedure is
pretty well the same, only you don't get the option of loading multiple home
pages on
starting IE7.

You may gather by now I'm not a support techy, otherwise I may have used less
space to
describe this procedure. Still, old habbits of trying to be helpful die hard,
even though I
was told off about it when very young. (Sorry if yu've already had an answer
to your
question, though I don't recall reading it here.)

                Mr. Epley,

I have absolutely no idea who you are--but I'll give you credit for at least
putting your name to your very public criticism. That said, you need to
understand that Ph.D.'s are not necessarily the most intelligent "tacks in
the box". What distinguishes many people who have achieved advanced degrees
from others is their ability to be persistent and to ask questions most
people will not run the risk of asking. Some of us do not have quite as
ready access to formal training in adaptive technology, either due to not
having access to funding via rehabilitation services or (as in my case) due
to work and other standing commitments. Like many other blind and visually
impaired folks out there, I've taught myself much of what I know with regard
to adaptive technology--with a lot of assistance from my "friends" online
along the way. And like many other people on this list, I'm not sitting on
my duff waiting for a sighted person to get the job done for me; I'm asking
the questions that will lead to my being able to learn how to perform the
tasks myself.

Tell you what, Good Buddy: here's one technology-related command I *do*
know: When you see my name associated with a message, simply hit the
"delete" key. I'm sure you'll be just as thrilled never to hear from me as I
will be never to hear from you. Let's just agree to disagree and leave it at
that, shall we?

Kimberly

You have a Ph.D. and you don't know how to do your home page setting or do
icons like you're asking? And I have but a meager Bachelor's and an
Associate's degree and know how to do these things? I don't get it.
Regardless of what a Ph.D. is in, anyone who can gain a Ph.D. ought to be
able to figure these things out. It has been said that walking around with
a bunch of knowledge in one's head isn't as important as knowing where and
how to find the answers. I'm sorry, this just baffles me, the questions you

ask, and yet you have a Ph.D.?
