Hi Mark,

Did you consider other hubs? For exampe the Shimano Alfine (8-speed)
or SRAM i-motion (9-speed) are way cheaper. Offcourse Rohloff is the
best without any doubt but do you need it on bike which you can't ride
;) Maybe even go for a second hand hub gear at first. You can change
the hub gear fairly easialy if the bike and your skills are more
developed. This may save you some money if the project fails for
whatever reason.

Just some thoughts, I also like to buy the best of the best and
experienced that this is not always the smartest thing to do ;)
