8x10 is abouat my smallest size too, and I can go down to 11x14 now 
that I figured out how to raise the base.  My partner sort of laughed 
when he thought of the longer lens solution.  He said, "Could you use 
a telephoto lens?"  I'll tell him that that might actually work!
