the technology for white LEDs is still relatively new, as is packaging them into AC applications. i think they still don't give off a whole lot of light, but they are very energy efficient and run cool and last for a long time. i remember when they first started coming out around 1999 there was a screw in replacement for a 10W-equivalent bulb which cost $99. i use a lot of compact flourescents around the house, not because i am "smug" (as in the south park definition) but because the kids leave the lights on for months at a time in the playroom of the basement and i am too lazy to keep changing them. the CFLs floods cost about $10 or 2-3 times an incandecent. -rei On Nov18 08:33, Jeffrey Thorns wrote: > I know this is a little OT, but > > Does anyonne know why some of the other types of bulbs on this site > are so expensive?
