I can't remember, is the core integral to the light fastness of the tank as in
a
Jobo? i.e would you fog the film without the core? In that case maybe an
exchange is in order, or if the sloppiness of the glue impedes the sliding on
or
off of the reels.

Subject: [pure-silver] Surprising Discovery - Big or No Deal?

Just ordered another Paterson MultiReel 5 tank to continue sloshing my way
thru
a 1-1/2 yr backlog of film dev at a slightly faster pace.

Noticed upon inspection that the center column is actually two pieces cemented
together, as though they take a column from a shorter tank and glue an
extension
onto the top end. I noticed this only because the glue job is a bit sloppy,
but
looking more closely at my older one, I notice a tiny hairline seam in the same
spot. So apparently this is the way they are made, I just never realized it.

I am thinking of exchanging for one with a more perfect-seeming center column,
but am wondering whether it would be worth the trouble?

Any thoughts/opinions/observations appreciated, as always!

Thanks all!  ;=}
