Most of my tanks and reels are at least 30 years old and show no signs of rust. Some are expensive (Nikor, Omega, Kindermann), some are cheapy house brands. I think it's how you treat the tanks. For example, are chemicals allowed to stand in them for prolonged periods of time. Kodak warns that some of their fixers containing ammonium chloride will corrode some stainless steels on prolonged contact. Don't know what brand or what they were used with, but I started thinking plastic isn't so bad after seeing that. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Peter De Smidt" <pdesmidt@xxxxxxx> To: <pure-silver@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, February 23, 2005 7:35 AM Subject: [pure-silver] Re: Stainless Steel Trays > I think that you need stainless steel type 316L for photographic=20 > chemicals.
