try it. I'll probably get the glass sandwich type eventually as well.
The Omega D5 doesn't have the posts to accept the detents on
the adaptor plate available from KHB in Canada. I can understand
why darkroommike manages without it.

The negative holders for the 45MCRX have four pins on the bottom plate
that fit into the circular aperture (the bottom one) of the enlarger.
This ensures that the rectangular aperture of the negative holder is on
the axis of the illumination from above, and the enlarging lens
underneath. On the other hand, it permits the negative to be rotated
vis-a-vis the paper holder underneath, although there is probably little
point in doing this.
I ask because I've got lots of Panatomic-X aerial 5 inches by 1000
feet.
It is very thin base. The holder clamps and stretches the negative.
Double glass equals more dust another solution.
