Hi Bob, Digging well back into the stone-age the first Kodak 35mm film that I ever bought came with color coded metal lids (browm - Pan-X, blue? or purple? - Plus-X, green - Tri-X). Next the color coded lids were dropped for just yellow lids with yellow cans. Next the cans became aluminum. Next the lids were silver metal and fially the lids became aluminum. The painted lids and cans were always steel. . As far as cassettes go brown+black was used for Pan-X, purple+yellow was used for Plus-X and green+yellow was used for Tri-X. As you may have guessed I was never a fan of Plus-X and used either Pan-X or Tri-X. It's been a very long time but I think the information is mostly accurate. I still have many of these cans and cherish them. So how about you younger members…can anyone help me find an approximate age of this film? CHEERS! I discovered a metal film can (yellow top, buff silver can) holding a roll of exposed Plus-X. The surprise is that the film cassette is a warm brown color with classical Kodak yellow printing on it and the top and bottom caps are buff silver. I think it must be rather old because I cannot remember anything except yellow, black, green, and blue Kodak film cassettes. I seem to recall that, when I started photography at age 11 using my Dad’s old Federal enlarger and Bakelite film tank, he had some old cassettes that were this same color. Sooooooooooooooo, my question is, does anyone have any idea, or even better, documentation/evidence of how old this film might be? CHEERS!
