Feature request

Ed Lopez here. It would be nice if they had a feature that would let you select 24 bit 96 K sample rate. I know that the other recorders like the R09 HR has this feature. I know that the pocket can take up to a 32 gig SD card, so I don't see why they can do that.

Hi Jeff,

Regarding NLS: this is in development.
Regarding recoding settings, when pushing 5 one can hear the settings,
to go quicker trough the settings, press #5 again and you will hear the
different settings quicker.

I, too, have the Pocket and love it. However, I have not heard what
the timeline might be for adding the capability to play NLS books.
Has anyone heard?

Second, I wish there were a way to quickly hear the different states
of the recording settings. Currently, one can get a partial listing
by pressing the 5 key when in record pause. It would be good to get a
complete listing even when not in record pause. Perhaps another,
unused number key like the 8 key could be assigned this function. In
any case, it would also be helpful, when in the recording settings
submenu, to have the state announced along with the menu item. Now,
one has to enter the item to learn the current state.

Peter hit it on the nose. There are many great features on the pocket
but this is currently one of the major aggravations regarding its
operation. The other thing that I am finding a little annoying Is its
response time to commands which lags behind both the ptr1 and 2. It
would really be great if this could be improved.

Hi Marc, and many thanks for the quick and helpful response. It's
really encouraging to know that someone from Plextor is indeed
monitoring the list.

I'm talking about the ability to move within a single MP3 file. I
often have MP3 files of up to two hours in length, and need to jump
to different points in the file, including skipping past sections or
going back a little way to hear something again.

At the moment this is extremely difficult to do. The only way to
move is by holding the right and left arrows, but as an example,
suppose you want to jump forward three minutes. You have to hold
the right arrow for a very long time, waiting until it says "plus
five minutes". Then the left arrow and wait for "minus one minute",
then left again for another minute.

What I'm requesting is something similar to what the PTR1 does within
DAISY books when you choose "navigate by time". This allows you to
press left and right-arrow repeatedly to move by minute, or by
ten-minutes if held down, and allows quick and easy jumping, so if
this, or something similar, could be implemented in MP3 files for
the Pocket it would be great.

Best,

Peter

Hi Peter,

I am monitoring the PTR1 users list, but not all the time.
Regarding PTP1, please let me know in detail what you require.
When navigating into audio, one can divide files into folders that
are called albums.
Then pushing the up key one can navigate to the next album
Unless you mean something else.

Hi All,

I used to see the occasional contribution from Plextor staff, to show
that they monitored this list, but I'm no longer sure that this is
the
case.

As I was not subscribed for quite a while, could any of the veteran
members tell me the best way to communicate feature requests to
Plextor?

The reason for asking now is that while I'm generally very pleased
with the Plextalk Pocket, I find that moving around in long MP3 files
is extremely tiresome. If only we had the option that is in the
PTR1, to choose navigate by time, and then be able to move quickly by
minute, or ten-minute increments .... ?

Best,

Peter

Subject: Reset for Pocket?

Hi All,

My Plextalk Pocket has crashed. When you power it on, it plays the
chime and then says "Please Wait", but nothing further
happens. I've tried taking the battery out several times and trying
with and without various memory cards but no joy.

I've sent it for repair, but am just wondering whether there are any
other reset procedures I could have tried, or could try if it
happened again, that are not mentioned in the manual.

This is with version 1.05 in case it matters.

Best,

Peter

Hi Peter,

See chapter 9 in the manual, when holding the Power On/OFF for more than
10 seconds, one forces a reboot.
If the unit powers off, you can set the Keylock on and then hold for 10
seconds.
If not restoring, there might be something wrong with it.

Regards,

Marc

I have the ptr1 but more and more discs are giving me an error message
during recording. This means the CDS become unusable and I lose everything on them. I don't want to buy another ptr1, and I doubt they are available anyway. What else is available now? What is the difference between the ptr2
and pocket, or are they the same?
