I don't mean to butt in rudely, but: From the Comcast manual: <snip>... "How to configure Pegasus to send and receive E-mail *while traveling*: This FAQ guides you in setting up Pegasus to be able to send and receive E-Mail from a *remote location, such as a hotel, office or any other non-Comcast connection*. " "Make sure that the Server host name is set to *smtp.comcast.net*, and that the *Server TCP/IP port* is set to *587*. " "Select the Security tab at the top and place a check in the box labelled *Login to the SMTP server using a POP3 username/password*" </snip> Authentication for Comcast mailservers is only needed in case one is using an external network [So you can leave authentication off when directly connected to a Comcast connection.] ... But when you are on a non Comcast network and want to use the comcast mailserverm not only authentication needs to be done, but you should be able to set non-standard ports for smtp as well... A small Potfix server could be a relief for people who cannot reach ANY server they can use without authentication... :) Just my 2 cents...
