Actually, the linear loading part also radiates, as the currents don't
match. The whole thing works more like a very low 1/2 inverted vee. The
loading part of the antenna is largely lossless, unlike a coil which
does not radiate.
I use this antenna from 400...0 km from the server, on 80m. For the
greater distances I use the same antenna on 30m. There it looks like 2
phased verticals.
