Hi John,

I use an ICOM AH-4 and that is the reason for the rigptttune setting in
pskmailrc.pl. The AH-4 will tune on first tx on a new frequency but it
will only do a proper tune if that first tx is unmodulated. For normal
use on ssb that is not a problem as there is normally a short pause at
the start of a tx, for psk it means the tune will not be properly done
and the tuner is set in a state where it thinks its tuned but swr is
still high. The rigptttune will cause fldigi to ptt briefly on first tx
on the new frequency, that triggers a proper tune (ICOM ptt tune must be
enabled). And yes, the tuner will only tune when it needs to tx so
scanning does not cause relay clicks every new minute.

I have used the scanning feature quite a lot but I have been forced to
stop using it. What I am experiencing is that the rig will suddenly be
turned off, I strongly suspect that the frequency change command
sometimes gets misinterpreted by the radio (into a "power off").
I experienced this during summer while I was in Vasa (Finland), suddenly
the server rig was turned off and I had no way to start it (even tried
remotely but hamlib does not even support the power commands for my
icom).
So, if you have to depend on one server then I would make sure you are
not affected by this problem. I use an ICOM 706MK2G and this could be a
problem with the hamlib driver for that particular rig.
