I can confirm both the command prompt and Outlook 2007 problems. Jaws 11 crashes when reading certain HTML messages in Outlook 2007. But that's not a 64-bit problem, I have the same problem on a 32-bit XP machine. The latest update to Jaws 11 has sorted out some of the problems when using the command line on Win 7 64-bit. It's better, but far from perfect. It's frustrating, but there are currently no alternatives in my opinion. Ok, I have only used Jaws and NVDA. So I can't comment on Window-Eyes and Saratech System Access. -----Original Message----- From: programmingblind-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:programmingblind-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Ken Perry Sent: 8. mai 2010 01:05 To: programmingblind@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: RE: problems moving to 64 bit Weird I didn't have that problem You will find though there are problems from everything like the dos prompt is not reading right yet to email in outlook 2007 has problems. It all can be dealt with but I have to say this is the worst version of Jaws since 4.1 Ken -----Original Message----- From: programmingblind-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:programmingblind-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of qubit Sent: Friday, May 07, 2010 4:51 PM To: bprogramming; blind-windows@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: problems moving to 64 bit Hi all -- I'm taking care to get correct software and drivers for my new 64 bit windows7 machine, but I noticed some disturbing glitches. I took my thumb drive to get jaws 64 bit binary over to set up there, and when it was done installing, I went to authorize it, using the txt file I copied along with the binary. But when I opened that file in notepad on the new machine, it showed no text. So does this mean data also needs to be updated to work on 64 bits? This seems ridiculous to me, as so much depends on exchanging character data. Anyway, anyone please enlighten. I'm also kind of annoyed at the amount of typing I have to do to get windows to shutdown on windows7. Is there an easy shortcut to get to the shutdown button on the desktop? I have tabbed and arrowed but haven't encountered it. Other than that I am liking the layout. --le __________ View the list's information and change your settings at //www.freelists.org/list/programmingblind __________ View the list's information and change your settings at //www.freelists.org/list/programmingblind __________ View the list's information and change your settings at //www.freelists.org/list/programmingblind
