in excel, you could use a auto look up or h lookup or v lookup in excel.
look in the help and look for functions.
that might help you.
seem to remember doing something like that, but used a v lookup function to
accomplish that.

yeah, I've got works. I was thinking about using excel.
If I kept a balance, say a verticle sheet with what it was on the left, and
then the values on the right, is there a way to make it automatically add to
the total?
If I'm going straight down, I can add ranges, but it'd be nice if it would
just add the values as they're inserted.
