ok, firstly, I gave you the instructions I made a month ago when I downloaded 
the VB.net 2008 express IDE from the microsoft web site, and assisted a couple 
others to get the correct version of the visual studios express IDE's. but... 
it seems that they completely redid the pages since then, and even the old URL 
is gone. 

here is the new download page for the Express IDE's, just go down the page and 
enter on the download link/button that is under the one you want:

  now, you need to find which? VB or C.net, either way here are the listing for 
the download buttons on the page. 

  you can skip to the download buttons by (in jaws) bringing up the list of 
links (insert and F7) and hitting do until you hear "Download files below" and 
entering on it to bring you to the beginning of the download section, then go 
to the buttons. 
  the first button is VB.net 2008
  second is VS C++  2008
  third is C# 2008
  and the forth is VWD 2008

        Are you installing visual studio, or something else.
        Check event logs, system logs, etc.
        I'm not jumping to conclusions, but if you got this off a torrent, this 
may be someone's idea of a joke.
