Hi Alex,
I cannot tell you exactly how it is done ... but you can read Windows
Shell topic under platform SDK on MSDN ; I read something similar long
ago and sure that there u will get useful info regarding this.
(hooking dlls with Windows Shell, associating file type formats with
programs ETC.)
