It also comes as no surprise to me that David E. jumped in to try to derail
the flame war as, if you do not know him,  he is one of the sweetest and
most mellow dudes I've ever met in the biz.

Agreed!  Wow, I come back to my e-mail box after a few really busy days to 
find this big surprise!  All of this OT stuff going on should go away, and I

feel indirectly like it is my fault as I am the recipient of the award ...
