Attempt to open in Adobe Photoshop.Photoshop fails to open with a "...file format module cannot parse the file" error.
Rename the *.PNG to a *.jpg Photoshop opens it quite happily.After some poking around with exiftool it seems that the iOS screen shot file extension is a lie: it has the extension of *.PNG but it's really a jpeg.
So what I'm thinking is Photoshop is seeing a mis-match between the file extension and the exif data and throwing its hands up in disgust.
For whatever reason.The real question is why the hell Apple is naming what is really a jpeg image as a png.
