I had blown it out about 6 months ago. Mine was doing the same. It turned out to be a small crack in the motherboard somewhere. My son-in-law got a new motherboard and installed it. Problem solved. Mine actually froze before the password screen, but was very sporadic. Sometimes it would finish booting, sometimes not.
