If the computer is jolted or jostled while running, it can cause bad sectors on your hard drive. Do a scandisk with a surface scan. I | almost caught it, so it didn't hit hard, but it still hit. | JUST prior to that, my firewall and anti-virus icons | disappeared from the lower right hand corner. When the mouse | fell, The computer started making a really loud noise - maybe | a vibration ? I shut the computer down right away. Opened the | case and tightened the wires and 'stuff' rebooted, and the | sound was gone. When I re-booted, it said my registry files | had been able to be recovered. I didn't know what happened to | them - I had shut the computer down normally. I ran Panda on | line scan - and my norton - and ran my spyware progs. | Everything checked out fine. | Now, certain programs are acting strange. I had the older | version of the free mail washer on here, and it would not | accept my one e-mail address and was throwing hissy fits. I | got that working - I removed it and then added it again. | Today, I tried to open Paint Shop Pro, and it won't open, I | get one of those microsoft error reports - "paint shop pro | 7has encounered a problem and needs to close.
