yep--put all lines together if you can on one box and put the filter between 
that one box and the phone jack. That's what I did. all phone cords are 
going to one phone cord with multipul hook ups and the filter is between 
that and the outlet. One filter takes care of 4 phone lines..works fine.

Oh, I get it now... The fax machine will require the same type of filter on
the DSL line that I have for my PC. So connect it either past the PC's
filter, or else put another DSL filter on it if I use the straight phone
line... And since the filter is right at the phone's input box, it makes
sense for me to put my splitter just past it so I can use one filter for the
same purpose..

And yes, I have DSL already. It's the FAX I'm contemplating adding on. One
of my printers is also a scanner and copier, but has no fax option.
