yeah - I saw your earlier reply after I wrote - and I thought that was in response to a windows update - because the e-mail must have changed, since the one I answered said they had just ran MS updates, and talked about critical updates!!! and was it ok to just restart - (it is below on here...) sure gets confusing keeping track some times!! Restart is fine for downloads, etc. --Glo ----- Original Message ----- From: cris To: pctechtalk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Sunday, October 19, 2003 5:50 PM Subject: -=PCTechTalk=- Re: network password why do you have to shut down? when I click to do it automatically, all it does is restart itself - it doesn't turn itself off....???? I always only re-start if I choose to wait, and they load just fine... You will have to Shut Down and reboot, >not just >'restart'. I recently applied updates from MS and decided to restart the computer at a later date. I used restart and not shutdown and am now wondering if I should have used the latter. If so why and what is the difference in the two methods. And since I used "restart" were the critical patches properly installed in this computer. Thanks for the info jskene ----- Original Message ----- From: "jeff" <jeff57@xxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <pctechtalk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Saturday, October 18, 2003 9:23 AM Subject: -=PCTechTalk=- Re: network password thanks i will do it next time i can drag the kids off it.
