yeah - I saw your earlier reply after I wrote - and I thought that was in 
response to a windows update - because the e-mail must have changed, since the 
one I answered said they had just ran MS updates, and talked about critical 
updates!!! and was it ok to just restart - (it is below on here...)
sure gets confusing keeping track some times!!

We were talking about the password thing, for some reason that seems to be
the only way it works is to do a cold boot.  Restart is fine for downloads,

why do you have to shut down? when I click to do it automatically, all it
does is restart itself - it doesn't turn itself off....???? I always only
re-start if I choose to wait, and they load just fine...

I recently applied updates from MS and decided to restart the computer at a
later date. I used restart and not shutdown and am now wondering if I should
have used the latter. If so why and what is the difference in the two
methods. And since I used "restart" were the critical patches properly
installed in this computer.
